Established in 1998, under a cooperative agreement with the Virginia Code Academy, the International Academy for Professional Code Administration provides professional development, training, and facilitation services to industry professionals and public administrators. The Academy’s Program Services facilitate and support the development of national and state training academies which improve leadership skills, provide thorough understanding of various regulatory systems, enhance administrative efficiency. Through its Resource Center, the Academy serves as a link to quality technical training programs available on the content of modern building codes. How Does it Work? The Academy works with a wide range of resources to design programs that suit your needs. Academy staff will work with you to evaluate existing organizational structures, systems and processes, and identify areas where training is needed. The Academy tailors training programs for various levels or professional experience. Current Academy clients range in size from small groups to entire states.
Our instructors have over 50 years of combined experience as Certified Professional Code Administrators (CPCA), Building Officials, Certified Trainers and Licensed General Contractors. The International Academy for Professional Code Administration is a project of the National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards, Inc. Where is the Academy?
The Academy offers a flexible "campus without walls," with a fully committed faculty of experienced professionals delivering quality training to each client as needed.
Why Use the Academy? To better serve your clients’ needs. Jurisdictions will be better able serve clients through a more balanced regulatory process that encourages voluntary compliance, reduces the need for aggressive enforcement, and enhances the built environment. Architects , engineers and the construction community can serve their clients better with a more thorough understanding of the building regulatory process. Building officials can serve clients better through more effective administration. International stakeholders in the building regulatory process enhance service delivery to their clients through expanded opportunities for education and training services provided by the Academy. |
