Welcome to the Streamlining Project!
The Streamlining project is a cooperative effort among 55 national organizations and federal, state, regional, and local governments to improve economic development, public safety, and environmental quality by bringing better management practices to the regulation of the siting, design, and construction of all types of buildings throughout the United States. The project began in 1996 and continues to run today as a membership service of NCSBCS.
In 2001, 41 of the streamlining national sponsors joined NCSBCS in hosting a National Forum on Building Smarter in the Digital Age which focused on seeking ways to use information technology to help streamline the building regulatory process. This forum launched the National Alliance for Building Regulatory Reform in the Digital Age.
The Alliance and Streamlining project are both coordinated by NCSBCS. View the list of Streamlining Models that use information technology in some phase of the building regulatory process.
