of the grid, and then choose a Type of Process from the list to the left of the grid. Once
you have made your selections, press the corresponding button on the grid.
Appeals:
Programs dealing with the regulatory appeals process, particularly those that make the
process more accessible and simpler for the public or industry to follow.
Code Compliance Alternatives:
Codes in use by a jurisdiction which are designed to be at least the equivalent of the
controlling regulatory standard.
Compliance Tools:
Programs designed to promote compliance by presenting requirements in an
easy-to-understand and comprehensive format. Examples include software programs, manuals,
or other means of presentation.
Enforcement Practices:
Innovative approaches to building regulation, such as unique regulatory mechanisms and
multi-jurisdictional regulatory agreements.
Inspections:
Programs dealing with both the procedural and substantive aspects of building inspections,
and the individuals and departments that perform inspections.
Legislation:
Programs that require legislative action for implementation, typically code modifications
or programs granting an official or agency powers not held previously.
Permit Office Procedures:
Steps taken to improve the efficiency of the procedure itself, such as improving customer
service, promoting better communication among departments and customers, and making
