NCSBCS Origin
Founded by Nations’ Governors in 1967 to serve their building code and standard interests
Serve as a venue where state and local building officials and construction industry can discuss and take action on common concerns
Since 1967 NCSBCS has worked with others to:
Develop model state legislation and regulations (3 states to 36 states with statewide codes)
Develop and adopt Energy Code for new construction
Develop and assist adoption of first building rehab code provisions
Since 1967 NCSBCS has worked with others to (cont)
Support the State Role in Federal Manufactured Housing Program
Develop and Promote National Building Safety Week
Developed Interstate Compact for Modular Construction
Launched Streamline the Nation’s Building Regulatory Process Project
Support Green Building Initiatives
And Most Recently:
Established International Academy for Professional Code Administration
Established Institute for Building Technology and Safety
Conceived and Launched National Alliance for Building Regulatory Reform in the Digital Age
Support State and Local Homeland Security Initiatives

To be a resource for our members involved in the built environment
NCSBCS MISSION STATEMENT
To provide technical services, education and training to our members to enhance the public’s social and economic well-being through safe, durable, affordable, accessible, and efficient buildings.
