Provides background history of codes and the enforcement profession
"Streamlining the Building
Regulatory Process"
"Key Players in the Adoption Process"
Outlines the roles played by Federal, state and local government entities and their
relationship to the model code groups/International Model Codes.
"Ordinances,
Statutes, Regulations and Referenced Standards"
Provides a thorough review of each of these regulatory vehicles and their
inter-relationships.
"Code Composition, Structure and
Language"
Provides
a working knowledge of the common code format, structure and terminology beyond the
technical requirements.
"The Code Change Process"
Walks the participant through the code change process used by the publishers of the
model codes. This program is designed to
encourage participation in the code change process by removing the mystery and
making the process less intimidating to the newcomers to the profession.
"The Role of Building Code Enforcement
within the Community"
Encourages
the building code administrative officers to become more fully involved in their
communities to build a constituency supportive of the local building regulatory agencies.
"Building a Positive Relationship with
the Public"
Helps
the local regulatory agency encourage voluntary compliance by building a relationship with
the public it is charged to serve.
"Dealing with the Media"
Gives
the local officials a higher comfort level when confronted with issues that draw the
attention of the media. It offers suggestions
to encourage the local official to establish a proactive relationship with the media as
opposed to the reactive relationship that is the norm.

Helps the
local agency employee build a reputation for quality customer service that encourages
voluntary compliance.
