Review of eFax: j2 Global’s Online Fax Flagship

eFax is a leading online fax company with fax to email services geared towards individuals and small businesses, and customized online fax solutions for larger enterprises. In 2011, the company introduced eFax NEXT, which complements its basic sending and receiving fax features with broader services, such as document management, digitized signatures, document encryption, mobile apps and more.

eFax: What They Offer

eFax offers a 30 Day Free Trial that waives the setup fee on both its service products and includes 10 free inbound fax pages. The two levels of service are: eFax Plus and eFax Pro. Both plans include selection of a free local or toll-free fax number and lifetime online fax storage. Additional savings can be realized by paying in full for an annual plan rather than month to month. Customized price plans for larger enterprises can be obtained through eFax’s corporate services division by completing an online form.

eFax Plus provides 150 inbound fax pages a month and includes a $15 monthly credit for 150 outbound fax pages per month (based on most faxes sent within the U.S. and Canada costing 10 cents per page). Faxes over the inbound and outbound limits cost 10 cents per page. eFax Plus has a $10 one-time setup fee and costs $16.95 month to month. The annual payment is $169.50, which comes out to $14.13 a month, a savings of two months.

eFax Pro features 200 minutes of inbound fax pages a month and includes a $20 monthly credit for 200 outbound fax pages per month (based on most faxes sent within the U.S. and Canada costing 10 cents per page). The overage fee for inbound and outbound faxes is 10 cents per fax page. eFax Pro has a $19.95 one-time setup fee and costs $19.95 a month. The annual payment is $199.50, which comes out to $16.63 a month, a savings of two months.

According to eFax’s Customer Agreement, fax pages are calculated based on 60 second increments of transmission or connection time. For example, a one page fax that takes 30 seconds to transmit is charged as one fax page, whereas one fax page that takes one minute and six seconds to transmit is charged as two fax pages.

eFax Features

eFax service plans include features designed to meet diverse business needs. Among the features are:

  • Fax preview
  • Searchable faxes
  • Large file sharing
  • Searchable contacts
  • Send storage that automatically saves sent faxes.
